Jasper Police are warning about a possible scam that is going on here in the local area. Officer Garrett Foster said Tuesday that the department received a bizarre call from a local business owner that said a group of people came to his establishment stating they were taking a security or safety survey.

Foster said that who the individuals were and what they were doing is still the big question. Foster said he and others are hoping that it was not simply a situation where the individuals were casing or inspecting the business with plans of returning and burglarizing the establishment.

Foster said all local businesses should be on the alert for not only the individuals in question but anyone who shows up to inspect or go through a business. He said individuals that are legitimate should have no problem in identifying themselves are revealing who they are working or representing.

Foster went on to say that anyone questioning the validity or reason for anyone visiting their business should ask for information and also call police if they are needed.

Police are investigating the incident and seeking more information about the individuals and their intent.
