KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) – The mother of Jada Mayes, 17, a Killeen student reported missing after she was last seen getting off a school bus Tuesday afternoon at Fort Hood, told KWTX late Wednesday that her daughter had been located.
Kaytee Cheyenne Mayes said police contacted her Wednesday evening and told her Jada was with a friend.
Earlier in the day, a Killeen ISD official said the district confirmed Jada “was dropped off by the bus at her stop” on Tuesday afternoon. KISD Police was working with local authorities, including Fort Hood officials, to find Jada, the spokeswoman said.
In a statement sent to the Killeen Daily Herald earlier Wednesday, Killeen Police Department Spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez also confirmed a missing person report had been filed for Jada.
At last check, Jada was reportedly staying with a friend and had not yet been reunited with her family.
No further information is available.
