Storms knock down trees and power lines in north end of Jasper County

Beech Grove firefighters worked to remove a downed tree from FM 777 in the Curtis Community on the night of Saturday, January 8

Local officials were dealing with downed trees and power lines late Saturday night as severe thunderstorms crossed the area.

Trees were reported down on the Highway 190 Dam B Bridge, Farm to Market Road 777 both in the Curtis and Beech Grove Communities, and on Farm to Market Road 2799 just outside of Jasper, along with various other locations.

Meanwhile, isolated power outages were reported in different locations in and around the Jasper area.

Here at KJAS in northeast Jasper, we recorded a storm total of 4.60” of rain, and we recorded a peak wind gust of 28 miles-per-hour out of the south-southwest at 8:34 Saturday evening.
