A man tried to strangle his mom because she would not lend him the vehicle, according to Laredo police.

Alfredo Mauricio Guerra, 42, arrested on Monday and charged with injury to an elderly.

Laredo police officers responded to an assault report at about 11:13 a.m. in the 300 block of Potrero Court. Responding officers encountered Guerra. He stated he was in an altercation with his mother due to her not lending him the vehicle

Guerra allegedly showed signs of intoxication on scene and failed to keep his balance while speaking to the officers. Officers then observed redness and bruising in the neck area where Guerra had attempted to strangle his mother.

Guerra was then taken into custody.
