WACO — Legendary sports journalist Dave Campbell has died at the age of 96, according to the Waco Tribune-Herald. Campbell died after a recent stay in a hospital due to pneumonia.

Campbell was sports editor at the Tribune-Herald from 1953-63, before he founded Texas Football Magazine in 1960.

Campbell sold the publication in 1980, but his name remained on the cover of one of the most well-known football publications in Texas.
