Deputies in Polk County are investigating the circumstances surrounding a deadly shooting early Wednesday morning. PolkCountyToday.com is reporting that it happened shortly before 7:00 in the Spring Creek Community, located on Highway 190 about 4 miles northwest of Livingston.

The report said deputies arrived to find a man dead next to a Ford pickup truck just beyond a tree line off of the highway, and the shooter told deputies that he was protecting his property.

No other information, including the names of the deceased person or the shooter, have been released by Sheriff Byron Lyons.
