ROUND ROCK, TX — As people prepare for holiday shopping, Round Rock police will be taking extra precautions for shoppers this season.

The department will deploy two skywatch towers in shopping centers located in high-traffic shopping areas around town. These same towers were deployed in shopping centers during Black Friday.

At this time, the towers are set up at Old Settlers Park for this weekend’s Light Up the Lake event in Round Rock.

Officials said police patrols will be increased on roadways around shopping centers as well as in parking lots. This holiday season, the department has relaunched Operation Front Porch to protect residents’ packages from porch pirates.
