SAN ANTONIO – A man was burned to death when his vehicle crashed after going off-road.

Police say that a white Ford F-250 lost control near the 1200 block of Culebra Road and drove into a wooded area.

The Ford reportedly burst into flames. An off-duty officer attempted to save him but was unable to due to the severity of the flames.

Other officers reportedly arrived and attempted to save the trapped man from the flames with fire extinguishers. They were unsuccessful.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were last waiting for the medical examiner to arrive, as the truck was so badly burnt, police were unable to identify the man.
