On Tuesday, Trupanion, a medical insurance company for cats and dogs, surveyed its internal database of more than 650,000 insured pets for the most popular cat and dog names of 2021.

Trupanion found that Bella took the number one spot for dogs after Luna led in 2020. Bailey and Lola rejoined the top 10 most popular names in 2021 after missing the list in 2020.

For cats, Luna continues to be the most popular name for cats while Milo jumped to number two and the 2021 iteration of the list remained somewhat consistent with the 2020 version. 

Trupanion said that while new names like “Doge” may pop up occasionally, the “reliable standbys” are continuing to be the most popular.
