AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office has ruled a Tuesday night structure fire on N. Wilson as “incendiary” after crews quickly extinguished the blaze.
According to an Amarillo Fire Department press release, crews responded to the structure fire at 11:59 p.m. in the 2400 block of N. Wilson.
The first arriving units found light smoke coming from the home. Firefighters entered and found two small fires burning in separate bedrooms.
The fires were quickly put out and crews checked the attic for extension after conducting a search for any victims.
There did not appear to be anyone living in the home and the back door was discovered to be open. There were no injuries reported from the incident.
The fire’s ignition source was not located due to the fire starting in two places but officials said they do not believe the fire was accidental.
AFD asks that anyone who sees someone entering a vacant building contact the authorities. Property owners are asked to take precautions to secure the premises and post “No Trespassing” signs.
