According to Beaumont Police, a preliminary investigation revealed the officer was operating a motorcycle and escorting a funeral procession westbound in the 7000 block of College Street at about 12:15 p.m. Monday. The driver of a red Ford F-150 was traveling south on Pinchback, failed to yield the right of way, and continued south across the westbound lanes of College, causing the collision with the officer operating the motorcycle. The officer was transported to a hospital and sustained serious injuries. The driver of the F-150 wasn’t injured. The crash is under investigation.

“We are asking that you continue to pray,” Ofc. Carole Riley told KFDM/Fox 4 Monday afternoon. “His family is here waiting to see how he does through the day. Again, we are optimistic. It does appear that his injuries will be non-life threatening and we are just thankful.”
