
AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo police are investigating after a man was shot and killed near downtown in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to police, at 12:39 a.m., the Amarillo Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from a man speaking Spanish, but he stopped talking before a translator could get on the line and obtain an address but the call taker could tell the man was distressed.
The call was eventually traced to the 400 block of southeast 15th Street. Emergency personnel responded to that address and found the correct address to be in the 1400 block of South Pierce Street.
The back door of the residence was found open and officers located 34-year-old Gonzalo Zubia was found dead from a gunshot wound in a back room.
