BEAUMONT — The Beaumont ISD board voted during its Tuesday night meeting to suspend the district-wide mask mandate effective November 29, after the Thanksgiving holiday.
COVID cases have declined in BISD and the entire region. The board granted Superintendent Dr. Shannon Allen the authority to reinstate and enforce a mask mandate if positive cases increase.
The board says it continues to strongly encourage the use of face masks for individuals inside schools, on buses and in district facilities, as an added safety measure for everyone.
Effective Monday, November 29, all students, staff and visitors to BISD will be highly encouraged but not required to wear a mask inside district facilities and buses.
The district will make masks available to anyone who wants to wear one but doesn’t have access to a mask.
