Military Times has released its 2021 rankings for the best employers for veterans.

In Texas, Southwest Airlines is the best employer for veterans and former military personnel. The criteria for the rankings are based on military-connected employment programs, benefits and support systems.

Southwest Airlines is currently ranked 18th in the nation with some other Texas based companies also making the list:

• USAA at 21st
• UT MD Anderson Cancer Center at 66th
• Dell Technologies at 67th
• Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) at 82nd
• Motel 6/Studio 6 at 98th
• AT&T at 105th
• First Command Financial Services Inc. at 110th
• Oceaneering International Inc. at 120th
• BNSF Railway at 121st
• City of Dallas Police Department at 122nd
• Phillips 66 at 124th
• Textron Systems at 129th
• Texas Tech University at 138th

“We stand by the rigor and soundness of this survey, which spotlights companies’ employment programs that help transitioning service members excel in their post-military careers,” said Mort Greenberg, senior vice president of media solutions at Military Times.

The survey received responses from 200 organizations and 161 of them made the final list. The survey focused on how these companies are working to recruit, retain and support current and former service members, military spouses and caregivers.
