WEEK ONE EARLY VOTING TOTALS

Week One is in the books for early voting in the November 2 Texas Constitutional Amendments election.

Extended hours on Tuesday October 26 will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The sites are the Orange Public Library, the Orange County Airport on Highway 87 South, the Orange County Expo Center on FM 1442, and the Raymond Gould Community Center in Vidor.

Otherwise, hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday October 25, Wednesday October 27, Thursday October 28, and Friday October 29.

The amendments are:

Proposition 1: Allow the charitable organizations of professional sports teams to conduct raffles at rodeo arenas.

Proposition 2: Allow counties to issued bonds to pay for infrastructure and transportation projects in undeveloped and blighted areas.

Proposition 3: An amendment to prohibit the state or political subdivisions to limit religious services or organizations.

Proposition 4: Change eligibility for state judges on the supreme court, court of criminal appeals, court of appeals, and district judges.

Proposition 5: Authorize the Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct to  accept and investigate complaints against candidates running for state judicial offices.

Proposition 6: Allow residents of nursing homes and assisted living centers to designated an essential caregiver who may not be prohibited from visiting.

Proposition 7:  Allow legislature to extend homestead tax exemption to surviving spouse of disabled individual if the spouse is 55 years or older.

Proposition 8:  Allow legislature to allow homestead tax exemption for surviving spouse of member of military who  is fatally injured in line of duty.
