SALES TAX STRONG IN COUNTY

Sales across Orange County continue to be strong as shown by state sales tax reimbursements to the entities from the Texas Comptroller’s Office. The payments covering August, which is the back-to-school month for sales, shows increases for city except Pinehurst.

The payments are:

Bridge City (1.5 percent tax): $158,171 for the month, compared to $125,700 for August 2020, an increase of 25.83 percent. $1.71 million for the year to date, compared to $1.59 million last year, an increase of 7.39 percent.

Orange (1.5 percent tax): $519,056 for the month, compared to $405,910 for August 2020, an increase of 27.87 percent. $5.64 million for the year to date, compared to $4.63 million last year, an increase of 21.69 percent.

Pinehurst (1.5 percent tax): $48,159 for the month, compared to $49,731 for August 2020, a decrease of 3.16 percent. $591,440 for the year to date, compared to $588,400 last year, an increase of 0.51 percent.

Vidor (1.5 percent tax): $247,605 for the month, compared to $218,942 for August 2020, an increase of 13.09 percent.  $2.94 million for the year to date, compared to $2.83 million last year, an increase of 4 percent.

West Orange (1.25 percent tax): $102,402 for the month,  compared to $75,157 for August 2020, an increase of 36.25 percent. $1.12 million for the year to date,  compared to $982,000 last year, an increase of 14.58 percent.

Orange County (0.5 percent tax): $497,400 for the month, compared to $392,000 for August 2020, an increase of 27.19 percent. $5.41 million for the year to date, compared to $4.725 million last year, an increase of 14.58 percent.

Emergency Services District 3 (Little Cypress Fire) (1.5 percent tax): $19,747 for the month. $220,473 for the year to date, compared to $224,994 last year, a decrease of 2 percent.
