WEST, Texas (KWTX) – Authorities overnight captured Anthony Williams, 39, an inmate who escaped in the West area, according to McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara.

Williams was a trustee doing work detail outside the West city limits in the 800 block of Snyder Road when he allegedly stole a white precinct van and took off shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday. The vehicle was found in the Waco area at about 9:30 a.m.

Williams was captured at about 2 a.m. Thursday in the area of Valley Mills and Waco Drive. The sheriff’s office said he was walking about a mile-and-a-half where the precinct van was abandoned.

Williams was captured with the assistance of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, Waco Police, and the McLennan County Constable for Precinct 1.

Officials told News 10 Williams was in custody on forgery and theft convictions. News 10 archives reveal Williams was arrested in July 2021 after he allegedly stole a catalytic converter and led authorities in a lengthy pursuit across Waco and nearby municipalities like Lacy Lakeview and Bellmead.
