Newton Co. Sheriff’s Report

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) answered 66 calls to service last week from September 27th to October 3rd, 2021.    We currently have 13 inmates in the following Jails, 6 housed in Newton, 7 housed in Jasper.     Last week there was 1 individual booked into the Jail.

The following individual(s) were booked and arraigned: 

Simmons, Christopher Carlos 9/30/2021 Class C – Public Intoxication

The following calls to service and reports were received by NCSO:

Hartburg:  On September 30, 2021:  Accident/Train vs. 4-Wheeler located at CR 4212 @ CR 4203:  On September 29th, 2021, at approximately, 10:49 p.m., Kansas City Railroad Contacted NCSO Dispatcher to report a collision at CR 4212 @ CR 4203 between a train and a Black Polaris 100 (UTV).  At the time of the report, it was not known if someone was on the UTV.  EMS, Railroad Personnel, Fire and Rescue, NCSO, and DPS.  Conducted a search of a 2-miles radius and did not discover or locate any evidence that indicates someone was on the UTV.  The UTV’s VIN# was checked, and we discovered that it was listed to be stolen out of Vinton, Louisiana in 2019.  This accident is currently under investigation by the Kansas City Railroad Police.    – Extra Patrol,

Deweyville:  Disturbance, Trespassing, Theft by Deception, Theft/Civil Matter, Criminal Mischief, Theft, Suspicious Activity-Extra Patrol, Terroristic Threat,

Weirgate:  False Alarm

Sandjack:  Disturbance

Call:   Extra Patrol (Call Cemetery)

Devils Pocket:  Theft

Bleakwood:  Disturbance

Toledo:  Missing Person

Indian Lake:  Accident Involving an Animal

Trout Creek:   Trespassing Extra Patrol

Burkeville:  Theft, Terroristic Threat, Welfare Concern

Hartburg:  Extra Patrol

Gist:  IllegalDumpingofTrash

Newton: Civil Matter

Woods Community:  Debit/Credit Card Abuse

Sunset Acres:  Trespassing

Old Champion:  Welfare Concern

Our first VIP Orientation meeting has been re-scheduled. We will be meeting October 14th at the Newton High School Auditorium from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Hope to see each of you there.
