PORT ARTHUR — Port Arthur Police are releasing the name of an armed robbery suspect shot and killed by a citizen who intervened Friday night outside Church’s Chicken in the 1800 block of Jefferson Drive in Port Arthur.
Police identify the suspect as Richardo Guient, 33, of Port Arthur.
Another suspect was shot and injured.
“Due to the fluid nature of this investigation, no further information will be released at this time,” said PAPD Det. Mike Hebert in a news release.
Port Arthur Police say Guient and another suspect were armed with handguns when they tried to rob the Church’s Chicken in the 1800 block of Jefferson Drive at about 8:45 p.m. Friday.
Investigators say an armed citizen intervened and several shots were fired. Both suspects were struck and fled the scene. Police say Guient died at a hospital. The other suspect was located at Normandy Apartments and was being treated in the ER. Police aren’t releasing his name.
Detectives interviewed and released the citizen who stayed on scene at Church’s. The case remains under investigation.
Police are investigating a robbery Thursday at a Jack in the Box. The chief says it’s not known at this point if there’s any connection to the two suspects in the Church’s aggravated robbery.
