Catalytic converters were stolen Tuesday night from vehicles at two local hotels.
Orange police at 6 a.m. Wednesday went to the Best Western, 2245 Highway 62 South. A parked vehicle had the catalytic converter removed during the night.
Another call came at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday when the owner of a Toyota Tundra pickup truck was missing the catalytic converter. The truck had been parked at the Hampton Inn, 2080 Interstate 10.
Thieves remove the catalytic converters to sell for scrap metal. The devices have miniscule amounts of precious metals along with more common metals. Police have said Toyota pickup trucks are particular targets.
