BEAUMONT — It’s called the Southeast Texas “Stand Down.”
It’s mission provided a one-stop shop for veterans who need help. Stand down is reference to combat troops being given time to recuperate.
Friday’s event at the Beaumont Civic Center brought together a number of non-profits, faith-based organizations and others to remind vets they’re not alone, and to help them with resources.
For one 96 year old World War 2 veteran this was a rare opportunity to share stories like when he helped built road from Burma to China.
