BEAUMONT — Beaumont Police arrested Xavier D’Andre James, 22, on two counts of Aggravated Robbery. Investigators say at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, he handed a note to a clerk at Check n Go in the 3900 block of Phelan, demanding money and advising the clerk he had a gun. Police say the clerk refused to hand over money and customers ran him off. Witnesses provided a description to police.
Only about an hour and a half later, at about 12:55, officers responded to Title Max in the 3600 block of College. Police say a suspect they’ve identifed as James told the clerk he had two minutes to give him all the money or he would have “guys come in from outside to shoot him.” The clerk was able to get James to leave and provided a vehicle description.
At about 1:20, officers were conducting business checks in the 4100 block of East Lucas at Ace Loan when they located James and the vehicle. James was taken into custody and transported to the station to speak with detectives. James was charged with two counts of Aggravated Robbery and transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr. issued a $250,000 bond for each charge.
