A man is dead following a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning here in Jasper. It happened at about 3:00 on Hodges Street, a few blocks from the Jasper Junior High School.

Jasper Police say the investigation into the incident is continuing, but evidence so far indicates that Kendal Garrett, 31, of Jasper, broke into the home of Brittany Collins at 411 Hodges.

What went on inside the home is not known, but officers believe a man who was visiting Collins, Jacoby Goodman, 28, also of Jasper, raised a gun and shot Garrett.

Lt. Garrett Foster said it is believed that after being shot, Garrett left the home, ran down the street and collapsed at 436 Hodges, where he was later found and taken by ambulance to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital, where he died a short time later.

So far no arrest has been made in the case. However, the investigation which is being led by Jasper Police Detective Joshua Hadnot is continuing.
