Veteran in Beaumont plays taps to honor the 13 U.S. servicemembers killed in Afghanistan

On Saturday, a veteran played taps at Rogers Park in Beaumont to honor the 13 U.S. servicemembers killed in Afghanistan.

Veteran Donald Root played taps while a crowd of spectators gathered to watch.

Root first payed tribute shortly after the attacks, and says he plans on performing again at Rogers Park on Sunday night (Sept. 5, 2021).

His goal is to pay tribute for 13 nights in memory of all thirteen servicemembers killed.

KFDM/Fox 4 thanks Carolann Cotlow who shared the video with us.

Cotlow says Root never imagined that many people would show up.

He simply wants to honor our nation’s heroes, she says.
