TEXAS — From TxDOT – As part of TxDOT’s “Drive Sober. No Regrets” drunk driving prevention campaign, law enforcement agencies across Texas will increase DWI patrols over the Labor Day weekend to identify and stop impaired drivers.
Drinking and driving can lead to tragic consequences. Last year, there were 963 DUI-alcohol related fatalities in our state. That means on average, a person in Texas died every nine hours and six minutes as a result of a traffic crash involving alcohol.
DUI crashes are 100% preventable when drivers who’ve been drinking find a sober ride home. Designate a driver who doesn’t drink any amount of alcohol, take a taxi, call a friend or family member or use a rideshare app to get you to your destination. You can also simply stay where you are until you’re sober and can get behind the wheel.
