JASPER-NEWTON — Steve W Stewart/KJAS – Among the thousands of workers that will be rebuilding the devastated infrastructure of southeast Louisiana after Hurricane Ida are sixteen linemen from the Jasper-Newton Electric Cooperative.
According to JNEC, their linemen will be working with the Washington-St. Tammany Electric Co-Op, which covers an area from 30 to 70 miles northeast of New Orleans.
A statement from JNEC described the situation in southeast Louisiana as “catastrophic damage to their entire system.”
Acknowledging the tough conditions the crew is heading into, the JNEC statement said, “Please keep our guys and all those assisting in the restoration efforts in your prayers, as they will be working in dangerous and extremely hot temperatures to repair damages caused by Ida.”
